Defending Women’s Rights in America and Around the World

Women’s rights date back to ancient Greece and Rome.  Yet, despite the existence of women’s rights dating back thousands of years, some modern-day civilizations still have a long way to go when it comes to giving their women the same regard as men.  Women’s rights includes many different facets of everyday living, such as gender equality, the right to vote or hold public office, the right to serve in her country’s military, the right to an education, the right to own property, and – perhaps most importantly – the right to her own body.  Believe it or not, women do not have the right to refuse sexual relations in some cultures, as her body is not considered her property but someone else’s.  When you consider this, you realize how important an issue women’s rights is within the United States and throughout the world.
